Artistry, Curated.
Artform Advisory is a Johannesburg-based art business advisory advancing the understanding, collection and long-term value of Pan-African contemporary art. We work with private collectors, companies and cultural partners to acquire, develop, position and preserve meaningful collections.
Drawing on art-market knowledge, brand strategy and practical industry experience, we offer a culturally grounded and commercially informed perspective on how art is understood, supported and sustained. We also develop special projects that connect brands and institutions with artists, designers and the wider creative economy.
Informed ownership. Stronger collections. Greater cultural value.

ART ADVISORY · COLLECTION STRATEGY · CULTURAL INTELLIGENCE
A collection is shaped over time through a series of decisions: what to acquire, how each work relates to the next and what the collection ultimately comes to represent.
Artform Advisory helps clients bring greater structure and intention to that process. We translate personal interests, institutional objectives and cultural ideas into clear collecting strategies, supported by research, market knowledge and an understanding of the wider context surrounding the work.
Our advisory services include:
Art acquisition and sourcing
Artist and artwork research
Collection development
Collection reviews
Corporate art collections
Artwork placement and presentation
Collection management and preservation
We do not believe that collecting should be reduced to market trends or investment language. A strong collection should reflect the interests of the collector while being supported by knowledge, quality and responsible decision-making.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
Artform develops cultural projects that connect brands and institutions with artists, designers and other creative practitioners.
These projects may take the form of artist collaborations, commissions, exhibitions, collectible design projects, cultural events, private experiences, content or public programming.
We work across the visual arts and the broader creative disciplines, identifying the right practitioners and developing a clear concept around the partnership.
Our role includes:
Cultural and creative strategy
Artist and designer identification
Curatorial concepts
Brand and artist collaborations
Commissioned artworks and objects
Exhibitions and cultural programmes
Collector and client experiences
Project development and management
We are interested in partnerships that create real value for the artist, the partner and the audience. Art should not be added to a project simply to make it appear culturally relevant. The relationship must make sense.
DISTINCTIVE POINT OF VIEW
Contemporary African art is often discussed as though it represents one category, one commercial structure and one cultural experience.
It does not.
The continent contains different histories, markets, institutions, collector cultures and levels of artistic infrastructure. An artist working in Lagos may face a completely different market from an artist working in Johannesburg, Accra, Dakar or Nairobi.
Our advisory approach recognises these differences.
We examine the context surrounding the artist and the work. We consider the strength of the practice, the quality of representation, the institutional record, the available market evidence and the wider cultural relevance.
Good advisory requires more than enthusiasm for African art. It requires the ability to read its distinctions accurately.
